A unique collaboration

BREATHE is a collaboration which combines expertise from academics, clinicians, commercial organisations, patients and the public. It is this unique combination of perspectives that allows us to explore and innovate in the way that we do.

BREATHE is led by the University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, the University of Leicester, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London and Swansea University.

The BREATHE bid to become a Health Data Research Hub was supported by our Founding Partners. Our network continues to grow with the addition of Supporting Partners, aligned with our vision of enabling better respiratory health through better connected data.

What it means to be a Supporting Partner

Becoming a Supporting Partner recognises a joint commitment to find solutions to benefit those affected by respiratory diseases by improving the health data landscape across the UK.

This could be by working together to improve access to data, providing expertise as part of a project, promoting the responsible use of health data for patient benefit, or aligning on activity which showcases the benefits of health data for respiratory research and innovation.

What it means to be a Supporting Partner

Working with industry

The barriers to accessing and using health data in research exist across all sectors. If we want to realise the full potential of data for better respiratory health, we need to work together.

From small technology pioneers to world leaders in respiratory medicine, we are working alongside companies as part of our Industry Forum to advance the use of health data and deliver improvements in respiratory health.

Commercial companies do not get privileged access to health data through being a partner or collaborator of BREATHE. Access to data is managed by data custodians, who follow strict protocols to ensure data are used safely and responsibly, and for the benefit of patients.
