Arete Medical Technologies is developing the Respicorder – a handheld device combining the three main respiratory measurements, spirometry, impulse oscilometry and fractional exhaled nitric oxide – covering full lung performance: function, impedance, inflammation.

Arete targets at-home self-management and remote monitoring, to bring specialist measurements into patients' homes.

Existing devices taking these measurements exist, but are not appropriate for at-home use due to costs and usability. Arete addresses these challenges with an expected >90% cost reduction and an improved user experience.

They believe a personalised understanding of the day-to-day status of the lungs will help better target treatments for reducing symptoms and preventing attacks.

The Partnership brings lasting benefits to everyone in the UK affected by asthma and other lung diseases. It is a powerful voice for all respiratory diseases for change and to get more, and better, investment in the NHS.

Savana and BREATHE are collaborating on the international BigCOVIData study, accelerating the use of data from de-identified Electronic Health Records to monitor disease progression and outcomes in UK patients hospitalised with COVID-19.

Smart Respiratory helps doctors and patients manage chronic respiratory diseases by collecting and analysing Patient Reported Outcomes. Fine-grained longitudinal data is used for short-term prediction of respiratory conditions. Smart Respiratory made over 1M peak flow measurements available to researchers through BREATHE.
